Introduction
In 1997, the Philippine Assistance Group (PAG) was formed in order to unify the different Filipino organizations into one umbrella Filipino Community Organization with the same goal of helping distressed filipinos with medical assistance and repatriation. The Philippine Embassy, our filipino community leaders, scholars/students, and company workers united their efforts in order to help many desperate cases involving Filipinos here in Japan, especially during the time when the Department of Foreign Affairs did not yet have the Assistance To National (ATN) program. PAG is composed of organizations united with the same overall goals and objectives. Objectives
· To increase awareness of Filipinos in Japan to services of the organization · To provide better services to Filipinos in Japan · To provide a venue of recognizing PAG member organizations The role of PAG can be summarized as follows: PAG plays a big role in the repartriation, and assistance of marginalized and distressed kababayans (Filipino nationals) in Japan. The duly authorized Representatives of the member organizations of the Philippine Assistance Group, pursuant to the Memorandum of Agreement of 30 April 1997 which established the Philippine Community Fund and created the Philippine Assistance Group (the "Agreement")
There is an acknowledged need and desire to make the Group more representative of the wider Filipino community in Japan by expanding its membership and to encourage and support the continued strength and cooperation of its member organizations by instituting membership standards governing the admission and continued participation of any and all member organizations: There is an acknowledged need and desire to further strengthen the administrtion of the Group and its work as well as the management of the Philippine Community Fund (the "Fund") by further defining the mandates and responsibilities of the Board of Representatives of the Group (the "Board") and of the Executive Committee (the "Execom"); There is an acknowledged need and desire to further strengthen the financial capabilities of the Group to fulfill its overaching mandate of assisting distressed Filipinos by undertaking, with the cooperation and support of the Philippine Embassy, Tokyo (the "Embassy") and of the Filipino community, any lawful activity necessary for building up the Fund; Full copy, available upon request Membership Requirements & Responsibilities
B. Qualifications for and Admission of New Member Organizations
1. An organization seeking admission as member of the Group shall have been in existence and registered with the Embassy for at least two years prior to the date of its application. 2. The objectives of the applicant organization shall be in full conformity with and supportive of the goals and objectives of the Group. 3. The applicant organization shall submit to the Secretariat of the Group the following documentary requirements, namely:
